Doing that, I have always had excellent service from all of the vehicles I have owned.
Personally, I have always treated my vehicles better than the owners manual suggests. If the truck was used as a work truck, the plugs should have been changed more often, such as every 50K. Even though the owners manual says the plugs may be good for up to 100K, there's no telling how they are w/o taking them out for inspection. The engine is not exactly young and tight so don't expect it to get great MPGs.
And like most already do, I will be disconnecting the battery next time I do any serious mods requiring unplugging of connectors.
So I feel cleaning carefully with a dry rag, while minimizing the butterfly movement is not big deal. I used cipher to reset the codes and fortunately I was good to go after that. I actually had like 4 SES codes when I cranked it up. I tend to prefer not disconnecting the battery because my ECU takes longer to get adjusted that way when doing mods. However on my second time having the TB off, I made the mistake of not unplugging it or disconnecting the battery. Started, idled, & ran great with no codes.
I was pleasantly surprised that I had no issues from the drilling or the dry cleaning. When it was out I also just did a good wipedown to get all the **** out of the bore by using clean rags. When I did my custom intake, I had to do a good amount of drilling of the TB mount holes to get it to fit. Thanks.įrom my personal experience, this is what I did/know. 15.9 is really bad considering my Duramax Dually got 14.5 I know diesel is more expensive but everyone has told me I should be getting 19-20 MPG. I have an 80 mile round trip to school today so I will see if this does anything for it. Yesterday I filled up with a tank of ethanol free gas to see if this helped. I have a K&N installed and I have even bumped up to mid-grade on my gas. Surely this has not affected the mileage by almost 2 MPG. The only thing I have done different to the truck is go from 265/65/17's to 275/65/17 tires. Has anyone cleaned theirs and did it do anything for the mileage. I'm hesitant about doing it for fear of cleaning and putting it back in just to end up getting a check engine light. he sold me a can of cleaner just for the task. I talked to one of the guys at my local Auto Zone and he suggested cleaning my mass air flow sensor.
In my continuing saga of crappy gas mileage, I have went from 17.8 to 15.9 in the last two weeks.
